Ocean Beach is located on the western side of San Francisco in the Outer Richmond district. It's foggy there in the summer. And cold. And windy. And foggy. I have to say that before you see my photos.
Ocean Beach is a huge stretch of dark brown/black sand where you can sit on a blanket - with a hat and jacket - and watch huge waves crash to the shore and surfers crazy enough to don wetsuits and ride those waves. You can bring your dog and let them run leash-free. You should not swim, however.
We both came to the conclusion that I'm not coordinated enough to surf.
Another interesting feature on Ocean Beach is the art, er...graffiti lining all of the walls separating the walkway from the sand. I hate graffiti on principle - I think it ruins what could be beautiful and makes a peaceful place look unsafe and dirty. But taken objectively, some graffiti artists are certainly talented.
This is a beautiful place. I cannot wait to explore the rest of Land's End.
