Fleet Week

This week San Francisco hosted what has probably been my favorite event since we've lived here: Fleet Week. Fleet Week isn't unique to San Francisco. It's a military tradition where Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard ships dock in various ports and the recently deployed troops are allowed to tour the cities and in return, the cities are allowed to tour the ships and are usually treated to air shows by the Blue Angels and other professional show pilots.

In San Francisco the action started en force on Thursday of last week. The air show pilots are able to practice on Thursday and Friday and actually perform on Saturday and Sunday. So Thursday and Friday were very noisy times! We live in the Marina, which is just a few blocks from the Bay where the show is held. We heard the jets practicing their show. I could visibly see my windows rattling! It was amazing to watch it out my windows - and that was only an appetizer of what was to come. I also loved seeing people on their rooftops enjoying the sight. We aren't allowed on our rooftops or I would have been up there with them!

Sunday we met up with some friends from church, Allen and Clara, and walked from our place down to the Marina Green to watch the show. I was so excited to see the Blue Angels perform. There were thousands of people there! They had food booths and all kinds of things for kids to do, as well as recruiting booths for the armed services. It was a great event.

We had a great time! We ate corn dogs and garlic fries and enjoyed watching the show. The Blue Angels were amazing.  It was a beautifully perfect day.

Fleet week is very important and the prospects of the fleet are enshrined and invoked for the betterment and urgency. The skills and abilities are applied for the sufficient and enough facts of the times. The duration of the succes is attained and relished.
