I had some bad moments in high school. But I had some great ones too. I was involved in competitive cheerleading and track, took honors classes, and was generally a good kid who kept out of trouble. I wasn't the most popular or most beautiful girl in school, but I had fun and I had friends.
The photo below is of a group of us in Colorado for our yearly ski trip. We had so much fun every year.
-- So in 8th grade, I was in my mom's pre-algebra class and got up out of my desk to go to the restroom and walked smack into the side wall. That moment has stayed with me for a long time.
-- I broke my ankle during cheerleading camp doing a pike jump the summer before my sophomore year. I had to wear a walking cast the entire football season and got athlete's foot. Awesome.
-- A guy I dated for several months broke up with me by playing The Backstreet Boys' song "Bye Bye Bye" when I was in his car. Seriously. And he might even read this which shows I have no hard feelings. Now when I hear that song I just laugh.
-- The most serious boyfriend I had in high school was on the cheerleading squad with me.
-- I was in the "glee club" - a small ensemble that performed special numbers at events for school.
-- I participated in a belching contest at a youth rally and held my own pretty well.
-- During a cheerleading competition, my best friend broke her middle finger and finished the routine with it sticking straight up in the air. The pictures are hilarious.
It was a good time. I wish I had more pictures but they are in a box and my scanner doesn't work. I look back on high school and remember fun. The drama is now just funny. Thank goodness we don't have to be in high school forever!
