Some of you know that my good friend Katie S and I read the Harry Potter series this summer together. We'd both always been a little resistant to it, and finally she suggested we just read it together before the first-part-of-the-last-film came to theatres. It was a great idea. We read at about the same pace, so after every book we could discuss what we thought, our favorite characters, and the development of the writing, plots, and darkness/less-kid-friendliness of the books.
So then I enlisted the help of my poor husband to trudge through all the films (oh, how I love Netflix!). He will have a golden crown in heaven for watching all but the first with me (the first I watched with my friend Rebekah). It was really cool to see how they got better and better, and how they became less and less childrens' stories. I liked watching the actors grow up on camera physically and in their talents. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Marc tolerated it because he loves me.
So of course we had to go see the new film: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, pt 1. I asked my pastor and his wife Rebekah (the one with whom I watched the first movie) to go along with us opening weekend. My claustrophobia is a little too strong for a midnight showing so we decided on Saturday night at the IMAX in downtown San Francisco.
It was a blast! We got there about an hour and fifteen early and there was already a long line at the door (thank goodness we got tickets two weeks early!!)!
