I wish I could link to my first blog post - our moving day into our apartment in the Marina, but my blog experienced some serious technical issues when I first started out. So that post is long-gone, and I never had the heart to write it again. But if you wanted to see the photos from those first days/weeks here in SF, and you are my Facebook friend, you can see them here.
I thought I would just write some things that we have learned or how we have changed in the last year:
-- We've tried more ethnic food and overall have just eaten some really good food.
-- Have learned to appreciate apartment living, and have nailed down more of what we want in a neighborhood/living situation.
-- I've had to adopt a hairstyle that can withstand strong winds. I've also grown my hair longer.
-- We've grown accustomed to the increased cost of living here...sort of.
-- We've seen some beautiful places that are just a short drive from our home.
-- I've renewed (and Marc has discovered) love for skiing on the West Coast.
-- I've learned more about eating fresh, local, organic food and how to support places that share this passion.
-- We've grown to love our little church community. It has helped us make this transition more than anything else.
-- I've also learned a lot about friendship. I've always been kind of an introvert and shunned my need for friendships. But relationships have become much more important to me and I've learned I have to be a friend to have friends. I've also come more to believe that God gives us friendships that are meant for life, some that are meant for just a season, and some just for a moment. All of these relationships are important and grow me as a person.
-- Obviously, Marc and I have grown up during this time, too. It's a huge change to go through and I'm grateful that he's been my partner through it all. We've grown to trust each other more, have become better friends, and love each other more for all of it.
-- Finally, Marc and I have grown to LOVE this beautiful city. Still, when I drive across the Golden Gate Bridge every day on my way home I'm overwhelmed with how much I love this city and how beautiful it is here.
