I'm about to leave my apartment so I can meet a friend for lunch for the last time. She and her husband and daughter are moving ALL the way across the U.S. so her husband can start business school. It's exciting but really hard at the same time. They are an active part of our church's ministry and I know there will be a hole there when they aren't at church anymore.
Ashley was one of my first friends when we moved to San Francisco. She and Dan are in our home group and they were great about reaching out to us and welcoming us into the city and the church. Ashley encouraged me to get involved with the worship team at church and was always supportive and willing to help when we had ladies' ministry projects and events. Dan and Ashley had their first child, Madelyn, last year and they allowed me to practice my ever-so-amateur photography skills on their newborn at Christmas time.
Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.
