Is summer over yet? I wasn't sure when it ended. Is is when school starts up again? Or after Labor Day?
Either way, I'll do a brief update on my summer goals, more for my benefit than anything else. Maybe this will light the fire in you-know-where to get me to complete all of my goals.
(From Kathy's list):
1. Learn to do something new
-- I got a new job that starts next week. I think that counts as something new. It's going to have to count for now, because I'm not sure I can take on anything else.
2. Host a summer dinner party
Yeah, totally forgot about this one.
3. Perfect a salsa recipe.
I made a pretty tasty grilled corn guacamole last week...does that count? Probably not, since I didn't document it with any photos.
4. Take a picture every hour for one whole day
--I need a redux on this one. I made plans on a Saturday to do this and ended up with photos of reading my Bible, drinking coffee, folding laundry, making Marc breakfast and...not much else.
-- Yay! This one I did: Redwoods Trip
(From my brain):
6. Take and edit 10 great photos (frameworthy)
Wow, I haven't taken any good photos this summer. Here are a couple OK ones. They are from this summer.
Nope. Not yet. Still have those Groupons though...
8. Try two new recipes a month
-- I think I did this, but didn't document it very well. Is it the thought that counts?
9. Call my grandmothers more
-- Tried to! I even went to see one of my grandmothers when she was (sort of) in town. Do I get a bonus for that?
10. Read 10 books
-- I've read 16.75 as of today, actually. I don't write reviews for all of the books I read. The reason being that I don't write a review on my blog unless I would recommend that book to anyone who read this blog. There are some reading choices I make (for instance, a book on how bridges are constructed) that are not generally interesting or universally recommendable. So anyway, I read 16.75 and I'll probably finish another book or two by the end of the summer (if summer ends after Labor Day, that is).
Well, I haven't done awesome by any means, but I did all right. I'll try (if I still have a week and a half left of summer) to complete a couple more goals. We'll see...
