This weekend was no different.
We'd been wanting to get up to Yosemite since we first moved here, but there are so many things to see, it just got lost in the mix. We'd really love to go back and stay a weekend so we can hike Half Dome, spend more time enjoying the breathtaking scenery, and not have to get up too early.
Friday night Marc got home and suggested that we get up early the next morning and make the 4 hour drive to Yosemite, see what there is to see there, and come back. I was all for it because we had nothing planned. So we got up and headed out around 6:30a. We hit some traffic when we got near the entrance to the national park, and it was a busy day inside too. No wonder: it was clear, sunny, and about 75 degrees. It couldn't have been more perfect.
I didn't take too many photos. When we go back I'll make sure to get out there in the early morning and late afternoon to get better light and capture some of the gorgeous views. These are more "tourist" photos.
We had a great time though. I love these day trips with Marc because we get to spend quality time together in the car, see beautiful places, and not spend a ton of money on flying somewhere or staying the weekend. I loved Yosemite - I didn't think it would live up to all the hype, but I was wrong. The pictures certainly do not do justice to the sheer majesty of the cliffs, waterfalls, and the overwhelming beauty of this place.
